Friendship Day: How Polo, Family, and Friendship Come Together at La Natividad

In Argentina, Friendship Day is celebrated every July 20th  a day to honor one of the most treasured values in our culture: friendship. In the world of polo, that value is lived daily, both on and off the field. And nowhere is this more evident than at La Natividad Polo Team, where polo is not just a sport  it’s a way of life built around family, loyalty, and lasting bonds.

A Family at the Heart of the Game

At the center of La Natividad is Lolo Castagnola, one of Argentina’s most respected polo figures, and his wife Camila Cambiaso, a key figure behind the scenes. Together, they’ve built more than a team  they’ve cultivated a culture where family and friends are at the core of everything.

Their four children,  Bartolomé (Barto), Camilo, Benicio, and Trinidad, were raised with horses, mallets, and tournaments. Today, Barto and Camilo are among the top polo players in the world, leading La Natividad to international victories. But what sets them apart is not just talent,  it’s the way they carry their team: with connection, trust, and a spirit of camaraderie.

Polo Is a Team Sport — So Is Life

From a young age, the Castagnola kids trained at the same club where they played pickup games on foot with their friends. They took lessons side by side, shared horses, and learned to read the game together. That deep-rooted bond is visible today in how they move on the field, instinctively, as if they’ve been playing together forever (because they have).

At La Natividad, winning is important, but never more important than the relationships that make winning possible. Over time, the club has grown into a large extended family: close friends, teammates, grooms, young players, and visiting guests. Polo isn’t just a career here. It’s a shared lifestyle.

Season After Season, One Big Family

The polo calendar takes them across the globe,  England, Dubai, Spain, the U.S., and back to Argentina. But no matter the destination, the team always travels as one. Camila and Lolo are the constant thread: organizing homes, setting up the season, making sure the atmosphere stays warm, grounded, and fun.

Post-game asados (Argentine barbecues) are a ritual. Whether the team wins or loses, the grill is lit, chairs pulled up, and everyone comes together to debrief, laugh, and celebrate the moment. These traditions, often invisible to outsiders, are the glue that holds the team spirit together when the stakes are high.

Giving and Receiving La Nati Way

This Friendship Day, we’re celebrating the bonds that make polo possible, and beautiful: friendship, loyalty, generosity, and teamwork. Every horse, every jersey, every product we make carries this spirit.

Because polo wouldn’t exist without friendship.
And neither would La Natividad.
